Languages of Life recognizes the Ottawa Police Service, this Saturday
(Ottawa)—Languages of Life (LOL) is pleased to announce that the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) will be receiving an award in recognition of 25 years of work in the community with immigrants, newcomers, minorities, children of abuse, and victims of crisis.
“I am honoured to be presenting this award to the Ottawa Police Service for 25 years of supporting languages of life in serving the community,” said LOL’s Executive Director Yasmin Mansouri.
The award will be presented at LOL’s Diversity Fundraising Gala being held at Ben Franklin Place on Saturday, May 20th starting at 6:30pm.
“I am very honoured to accept this award on behalf of the Ottawa Police,” said OPS Director-General Debra Frazer. “We pride ourselves on being an inclusive organization and we want to encourage that kind of cooperation and collaboration with our community partners.”
LOL is a non-profit charity that provides interpretation and translations services for Ottawa residents and has been an integral part of the community for 32 years.
“The foremost reason for holding our gala is to acknowledge our community partners, benefactors, and our tireless interpreters, as well as raise awareness throughout the city of the indispensable service we provide,” added Executive Director Yasmin Mansouri.
Saturday’s fundraising gala will include appearances by Ottawa 2017 Director General Guy Laflamme; OPS Director-General Debra Frazer; and Yasmin Mansouri, CEO of LOL. It will also include multi-cultural performances and a silent auction.
LOL is grateful for this year’s sponsors: the Ottawa International Airport, Jim’s Driving School, Sparks Auto, and Sipan Tires and Rims/Sipan Auto Spa.
